Historical Response

Origin of the Problem – Historical Response to Network Businesses

Mindless ExpansionCurrent methods used for transmitting data across the network are inherently inefficient.  This generation’s Cloud solutions are expensive to maintain and require complex security requirements to function.  The world’s push for data standardization has resulted in inflated data (metadata).  Data elements are sent across the network one at a time in the exact same manner as verbal communication over the phone.  Words are spoken/sent, received/heard one syllable at time.  Nothing has been done to enhance or optimize the transportation aspects of network data.  The network is a dumb highway that only routes data to needed destinations and has a planned maximum traffic load.  It has no understanding of the data being moved and therefore has no ability to organize or prioritize individual data loads. It is mindless, treating all data the same regardless of the data’s value.

Smart cities

Modeling networks on human verbal communication has crippled network abilities to optimize processing.  Sending data across the network is a transport business.  It measures costs through total weight (bytes) and the number of packages (frames).  Until industry sees it this way and allow computers to perform more advanced forms of data communication, costs/failures will continue to rise and large data collection increases, as envisioned with next-gen sensor networks, such as Microsoft’s Smart City, will eventually grind the Cloud to a halt.
